For one week now I have been trying to train my new bird , Bandit. I have been trying all sorts of different techniques me and parents have found on the internet , but none have been working. We did though , go to one site and find a technique that is working very well! This technique is called the "Touch Training System". What happens is I have this stick and I have a little clicker attached to it. The little clicker is clicked every time he touches the stick to show that he is going to get a treat. We use his favorite treat, Millet to reward him. When he starts to trust me enough I put my hand out for him to step on to my hand and that way he can get used to my hand. It has been going great! I have had him climb to the other side of cage , step on different perches , walk out onto the perch shown in the video , and even step out onto a stick that I was holding up outside his cage!!! But he hasn't stepped on my hand yet.
