A Short French Lesson
11:07 AM
French has been going very well, since we have started back up from Christmas break. Christmas went well and we had a wonderful Christmas. I am now starting to understand French a little more. I just learned 2 new verbs: chanter-means to sing and then I learned venir-means to come. I am starting to enjoy learning new things in French. For homework we had to write some math problems in words. Like this:
24 - 14 = 10
vingt-quatre moins quatorze egal dix
Also for homework we had to write short sentences using partitives:
Je mange du boeuf.
I eat some beef.
The partitive in this sentence would be "du". I used "du" because the word "boeuf" is masculine. For feminine I would have used " de la". For a plural word, masculine or feminine I would have used "des". For a word starting with a vowel or a "h"(the "h" is silent in all French words) I would use "de l'".
I know it can be confusing but once you learn all of the different forms and the exceptions it's pretty simple.
Please pray for me and my sisters as we go to French class at 6:00 tommorow night. We need to learn it quickly so we can hurry and leave for St. Barths.
